This tutorial will show you one of the ways to extract an image from its background.
Step 1. Open image. Your job is more easier if it is black and white or just outlines.
Step 2. Click the channels tab and choose one layer and hide the others. Any layer will do. Then, right click on it and click duplicate channel.
Now, hide that channel and reveal duplicated one.
Step 3. Click Ctrl + I to invert the image.
Step 4. Now, hold the Ctrl and click on the inverted layer to select it. Once you can see the image is selected, click the RGB channel back to reveal the original image.
Step 5. Click the layers tab back. Select the Move tool (v) drag the extracted image to your work document.
You are done. Now you can do whatever you want with that. This is just for a simple image. I'll be explain the complex one in the future.
